This is my sixth year of gardening and I can not wait to start tasting fresh food once again. Compared to past years, planting was late this year due to our lengthy winter weather. By mid April I had half the garden planted in the raised bed. Early May brought much of the rest into the ground, with the first radishes being eaten. This year I will try to handle tomatoes, cucumbers, beans, and peas, via strings that will hang from above instead of cages. I saw this last year while taking a tour of Kansas City area gardens. I'm also going to try yet again to get some corn. I've tried three times before only to have the corn taken by animals just days before harvest.
